Steve Slayo is the founder of HODL Labs, a UAE-based venture studio focused on building software products and internet infrastructure.
His work spans security research, distributed systems, automation, blockchain infrastructure, authentication platforms, and real-time communications software. Over the years, he has built products ranging from trading and automation systems to smart contracts, marketplaces, and large-scale communications platforms.
Before entering the technology industry, Steve studied pharmacy and worked within the healthcare sector. In 2017, driven by a growing interest in security, decentralization, and software engineering, he left the healthcare path behind and transitioned into technology full-time.
Since then, he has worked across a wide range of technologies and industries, with a focus on understanding how complex systems operate, scale, and evolve. His interests include cybersecurity, distributed systems, privacy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and the infrastructure that underpins modern software.
In 2024, he founded HODL Labs as a home for the products, ideas, and technologies he continues to build.
Based in Dubai, Steve spends most of his time building software, exploring emerging technologies, and working on products that solve real-world problems.
